Melon season: you'll have to shop around the store to avoid pesticides
The Swiss consumer mag Bon à Savoir's summer edition for 2021 reports on the gorgeous melons for sale in supermarket stores: only 7 of 20 were free of pesticides. Lidl's Baby pastèque from Spain was also nearly the cheapest at CHF1.99, along with the three "bio" products: Coop's Bio Charentais for CHF5.95, Migros' equally named at CHF6.50 and Manor Food's Pastèque mini bio for CHF4.95. Denner's Cantaloupe was only CHF2.95. All the top rated came from Spain. So were pesticide-contaminated in the same stores.
